  • Lesson Four: Sales Applications

Most of the discussion subject areas correspond with the lessons you will be studying. Post any questions or concerns about a particular lesson in the corresponding subject area.

In addition, there are three other discussion areas: the "Orientation" area, the "General Questions" area and the "Student Lounge" area.

You are to begin in the Orientation area.

The "General Questions" area should be used to post general questions about the course (not content) or navigating through the course website. For example, if you are unsure about how to submit assignments or where to check for your grades, etc., post your question here. Before posting, please review the questions that have already been asked by your colleagues to avoid duplication.

The "Student Lounge" area is our on-line equivalent of the Campus Center. Use this area to discuss topics not directly related to this course. For example, share information about career interests or job leads; tell about a great book you've read or movie you have seen; discuss courses you plan to take in coming quarters, etc.

HOW TO POST A COMMENT TO THE DISCUSSION PAGE
Enter the Discussion Page by clicking on the link "Enter the Discussion Area" link below. Once there, decide which of the fourteen subject areas listed is appropriate for your posting and select it. (NOTE: You are NEVER to select the "Post New Topic" button at the bottom of the screen.)

For example, if you have a question about the payroll material, click on the subject link entitled "Lesson 5: Payroll Applications". Next, click on the "Reply" link. The next screen will display a "subject" field and a "body" field. Note, by default, the subject field will read "RE: Lesson 5: Payroll Applications." You should write over this text with a more detailed description of your comment or question.

To do this, highlight the contents of the subject field and then, enter enough information to summarize the nature of your posting such as "Need Help w/Problem 9-14 on page 235". Then, in the body of the message, type the specific problem you are having. After you finish, click the "Post to Discussion Board" link.

REPLYING TO A MESSAGE ALREADY POSTED
Enter the Discussion Page by clicking on the "Enter the Discussion Area" link below. Next, select the subject area you wish to view (e.g., "Lesson 2: Decimals"). Once there, view any new messages that have been posted. If you are viewing a message and decide you want to comment to it, click the "Reply" link. By default, the subject line reads "re: message topic". Since this is the message you are replying to, do not change the contents of the subject line unless you need to for clarity. In the body, type your response and then click on the "Post to Discussion Board" link.
